Social Value: Sale Sharks HITZ Programme
Connolly has been working in partnership with local rugby club, Sale Sharks HITZ programme and Irwell Valley Homes to provide employment opportunities for local young people. This programme aims to support 14–19-year-olds not in training or education (NEET) by providing a combination of life skills and education, focusing on employability and issues such as drug and alcohol awareness.
To launch our partnership with HITZ, our Social Value Manager visited the Sale Sharks training ground, where the HITZ programme is based, alongside one of one time-served Joiners and an Apprentice Joiner, who were able to provide insight into their career journey and life working at Connolly.
Following our visit, HITZ students and their tutor have visited our Connolly Head Office to launch the programme and attended workshops, hosted by our Social Value Manager, Linda Beaumont, in preparation for upcoming on-site placements. The visit consisted of a Company Induction and information session, as well as individual sessions with the learners and open conversations on their goals and aspirations for the future. The learners were also able to meet our in-house Labour Manager who runs our internal Apprenticeship Programme.
“Connolly are giving the learners an opportunity that most of them thought they would never have. They are supporting us to show our learners that there are people out there who will listen and help to develop individuals no matter of their background or past experiences. Connolly give our learners hope and make them believe that they can do something and be someone. We are extremely grateful for the Connolly team and working together we really can have an impact and change lives.” Aimee Gray, HITZ tutor.
We look forward to welcoming Sale Sharks students into our Connolly family and watching them develop on their journey.
