We will be carrying out an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) at your property.

This is an important safety check to ensure your electrical system is safe and meets current standards.

Your appointment:

Once your appointment is booked, you will receive a confirmation text message. You will also receive:

  • A reminder the day before your appointment
  • A notification when the engineer is on their way

What will happen:

A qualified electrician will visit your home to inspect and test the electrical system, including:

  • Consumer unit (fuse board)
  • Wiring and cables
  • Sockets, switches, and light fittings

Specialist equipment will be used to carry out safety tests.

How long it takes:

The inspection will usually take an hour to 2 hours, depending on the size and condition of your property.

Power supply:

Your electricity will need to be switched off during the inspection. The engineer will keep any disruption to a minimum.

Access to your home:

To complete the inspection, we will need access to:

  • All rooms
  • Cupboards and storage areas
  • Electrical equipment (including loft spaces where possible)

Access limitations:

If certain areas or equipment cannot be accessed, this will be recorded as a limitation in the report. The inspection can often still be completed, but some parts of the installation may not be fully assessed.

Your certificate:

After the inspection, a report will be produced detailing the condition of your electrical installation. A QR code sticker will be placed on or near your consumer unit (fuse board).

You can scan this to view your certificate online (where a satisfactory result has been achieved). Classification of results:

  • C1 – Danger present: Immediate action required. These will be fixed during the engineer visit.
  • C2 – Potentially dangerous: Urgent repair needed. These will be fixed during the visit or a follow up appointment made to rectify.
  • C3 – Improvement recommended: Not unsafe, but could be improved.

Repairs (remedial works):

If repairs are required, they will either:

  • Be completed during the visit, where possible, or
  • Be arranged for a follow-up appointment

Why this is important:

These checks help to:

  • Keep you and your household safe
  • Reduce the risk of electric shock or fire
  • Ensure your home meets legal safety standards

How to access your certificate (QR code guide):

  1. Find the QR code sticker on your consumer unit (fuse board)
  2. Open the camera on your smartphone or tablet
  3. Point the camera at the QR code
  4. Tap the link that appears
  5. Your certificate will open in your browser

If you have trouble:

  • Make sure you are connected to the internet
  • Adjust your camera position slightly
  • Contact your housing provider or contractor if needed
