Apprenticeships

By investing in apprenticeships, Connolly creates opportunities for young people to build rewarding careers while developing the next generation of talent for our industry.

What apprenticeships do Connolly offer?

We love to see young people light up when they discover a talent or passion they didn’t realise they had, as well as offer our experienced members of staff the chance to pass on their knowledge.

Connolly work with clients, local schools and sixth form colleges to offer apprenticeships in:

  • Joinery
  • Plastering
  • Electrical
  • Painting and decorating
  • Customer service

Many of our apprentices have gone on to be offered permanent roles, either as site operatives or trainee customer liaison officers.

What do Connolly look for in apprentices?

Apprenticeships mean that you get paid to learn, avoiding student debt and developing real skills from experienced mentors. Most also lead to recognised qualifications and the chance of a long term career. So do you have what we’re looking for?

  • At least five GCSEs (grades 9–4), including Maths and English
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Interest in practical, hands-on work
  • Reliable, hardworking and a strong team player
  • Good communication skills
  • Willing to work towards a driving qualification during your apprenticeship

Our apprentice success stories

Darcy – Apprentice customer liaison officer

Darcy – Apprentice customer liaison officer

Since Darcy started, we have seen her confidence grow. From communicating with customers and completing “Getting to Know You” surveys, to booking access for works, updating the project register, and carrying out satisfaction surveys – she’s gained fantastic hands on experience.

Olivia – Apprentice electrician

Olivia’s mentor Darrel told us “Olivia’s achieved so much in the time she’s been with us. It’s great to be able to give her the 1 1 support and guidance she needs. She listens, takes everything in, and turns up every day ready to learn. She’s already doing first and second fixes, and I’m really proud of her progress.”

Kade – Apprentice joiner

Kade’s mentor Marc has mentored many apprentices over the years. He said “Kade adjusted brilliantly to his new career. He’s polite, well mannered, always happy to help around site and keen to learn. He’s willing to try different techniques, and his confidence is growing, especially when using power tools.”

Could you be our next apprentice?

Connolly typically takes on cohorts of new apprentices every September. Keep an eye on our current jobs page for any relevant opportunities. You’ll need to be 16 or over, and have at least five GCSEs at grade 4 or above.
